Women Who Win Africa (WWWA) and the Hezena Lemaletian Foundation (HLF) announced a strategic partnership during the African Women Audacity Conference 2024, held at the Argyle Grand Hotel in Nairobi. The conference, themed “Closing the Gender Representation Gap in Nation Building,” brought together African leaders, policymakers, and influencers to advance women’s leadership across the continent.
The partnership aims to address the persistent underrepresentation of women in political, economic, and social decision-making by building a strong pipeline of female leaders. Through mentorship, capacity-building workshops, and policy advocacy, the collaboration seeks to equip women with the skills, confidence, and platforms needed to lead transformative change.
Hosted by Senator Hezena Lemaletian, the conference emphasized servant leadership, integrity, and bold action. Speaking at the opening, Senator Lemaletian underscored the need for women to move from the margins to the center of decision-making, becoming architects of Africa’s progress rather than beneficiaries of it. WWWA founder Dr. Louisa Akaiso echoed this vision, highlighting that closing the gender gap is essential to Africa’s development and inclusive prosperity.
The conference was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Gertrude Mongella, the renowned Tanzanian diplomat and global women’s rights champion, whose call for structural change reinforced the urgency of moving beyond token representation to real power and influence.
Attended by over 200 women from diverse sectors across Africa, the four-day conference laid the groundwork for practical outcomes, including enhanced political inclusion, economic empowerment for women-led enterprises, and sustained leadership mentorship. The HLF–WWWA partnership signals a united, action-oriented commitment to advancing gender equality and ensuring women’s voices are central to Africa’s future.
