On June 27, the Hezena Lemaletian Foundation hosted the inaugural Maa Boychild Empowerment Summit at the Argyle Grand Hotel, Nairobi. Launched by Senator Hezena Lemaletian, the summit addressed the long-standing neglect of the Maa boychild and called for balanced, inclusive development.
Discussions highlighted key challenges including school dropouts, unemployment, substance abuse, mental health, and vulnerability to crime. Leaders from government, the private sector, and civil society emphasized legal awareness, life skills, mentorship, and access to opportunities as critical solutions.
The summit marked the beginning of a sustained movement to empower Maa boys from six counties, restore their dignity, and equip them to become responsible, confident contributors to national development.
